Deaf SA opens doors in Durban
DeafSA KZN has recently opened their offices in Durban, in a bid to bring their services closer to the deaf community, as well as to broader sectors who may require staffing, training and skills assistance.
DEAFSA KZN has found a home in Durban central, and after a few months they are settled and amped to hit the ground running.
Director Leigh McDonald-Dyers is excited to be part of the organisation and for what lies ahead.
“We have several services that are designed to meet the needs of the deaf community, and to create awareness and understanding on the side of the general society, as well as the labour sector,” McDonald-Dyers said.
She added, “Most deaf people struggle to get employed, and our services attempt to bridge the gap between companies and unemployment. These deaf people are skilled and educated, and possess capabilities normal people do.

“We urge companies and the public service to stretch their hands, and afford jobs that include, and are not limited to, sign language interpreters, drivers, administration, sports, social services, cleaners, communicators, creatives etc. DeafSA also provides training in the workplace as well as to private organisations and individuals. These are conducted physically and online.”
