Dlamini twin wakes up after weeks in coma
Aphile Dlamini (8) woke up from a coma following a lift shaft tragedy which led to her twin brother’s death last month.
THIS weekend saw a moment of relief for the parents of the twins who fell in a lift shaft at a residential building in the CBD last month.
Aphelele and Aphile Dlamini met their tragedy at the Homii Lifestyle Apartment building. Aphelele died instantly, while the girl twin was hospitalised and remained in a coma for weeks.
The Dlamini matter shook the nation, and saw scores of protesters marching in the CBD demanding justice from the apartment management.
The father of the twins, Khaya Dlamini, reported last week that Aphile was to undergo a critical operation, which he later indicated over the weekend was a success.

“Today (November 15) is my birthday, and there is no greater gift than reporting the good news that Aphile is alive, the operation was successful, and she is out of the coma,” Dlamini shared with relief.
He added, “The Dlamini family extends heartfelt gratitude to all South Africans for the overwhelming support during this profoundly difficult time. We wish to confirm that the matter is now being handled through formal legal channels.”
He said he remained hopeful and encouraged by not only the South Africans sharing words of support but also people from neighbouring countries and abroad.
