March-And-March to cease hospitals, clinics blockades
The March and March movement has announced it will end its controversial clinic and hospital gatekeeping campaign due to a lack of funding.
THE March and March movement began their campaign of manning the gates of government clinics to turn away foreign nationals while demanding that South African citizens be prioritised. They were seen at Addington Hospital Gateway Clinic, RK Khan Hospital in Chatsworth, and later spread their reach to other facilities province-wide. Other provinces also answered the call, seeing more blockades.
Since the movement started in March 2025, it has made visible and often controversial appearances at Durban health care facilities against undocumented nationals seeking hospital services.

According to the March-And-March statement, “We want to thank all volunteers for their tireless dedication.” It continued, “It is with sadness to announce that due to a lack of funding, we have decided to discontinue our hospital and clinics programmes. Continuing with these actions without resources is no longer fair to our volunteers.”
The last date for when the programmes will cease will reportedly be announced soon.
