Pitch-ready to welcome local, international golfers to Durban fairways

It’s all systems go for the internationally-renowned Jonnson Workwear Golf Open as Durban gears up for the action-packed four-day tournament.

YESTERDAY’S Pro-Am set the pace for an exciting build-up to the Jonsson Workwear Durban Open from tomorrow at the iconic Durban Country Club. Boasting a contingent of international and local golfers, the golfing showpiece will draw a global audience for the duration of the competition.

The momentum continued with the inspiring eThekwini Golf Development Programme clinic, where 30 local young golfers had the opportunity to sharpen their skills and learn from the professionals.

“Golf, like all sporting codes, acts as an economic driver and exposes Durban to the global audience during the event,” eThekwini Mayor Cyril  Xaba said.

He emphasised the significance of hosting such events to restore confidence among various stakeholders, adding that the City was committed to attract investment into eThekwini Municipality.
