The event features a 21.1km half marathon, and 10km and 5km races.
SAVAGES Athletic Club will host the 2026 Savages Challenge on Sunday, August 16, with runners from across KZN expected to take part in one of Durban’s popular road running events.
The event features a 21.1km half marathon, and 10km and 5km races, all starting from 06:30, offering distances for competitive athletes, social runners and families alike.

“This year’s race carries a R40 000 prize purse, with equal prize money for men and women, and a medal for every finisher. Online entries close on August 13, with late entries available at number collection on Saturday, 15 August, subject to availability.
“Number collection will take place at Kingfisher Canoe Club from 10:00 to 16:00 on the day before the race,” race director Gordon Dieners shared.

The Savages Challenge is organised by Savages Athletic Club, one of Durban’s longest-established running clubs, and is supported by Marshall Security as the title sponsor. The event attracts runners of all abilities and forms part of the local road running calendar, while also welcoming newcomers looking to complete their first race.
“Participants and supporters can expect a professionally organised event, well-stocked water tables, a safe route and a vibrant race-day atmosphere along Durban’s scenic coastline,” added Dieners.
