Bringing in the green for PinkDrive

PinkDrive NPO works to promote awareness and early detection of gender-related cancers.

THE bowling greens turned pink on Saturday, September 24 as PinkDrive joined the Heritage Day Trips tournament at Queen’s Bowling Club. The event served as a fundraiser for PinkDrive’s work.

Lindsay Owen, Lucas Esterhuyse and Larraim Vermeulen are all smiles on the greens.

The NPO works to promote awareness and early detection of gender-related cancers, including breast cancer and prostate cancer. With Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the corner in October, the fun event saw participants dress in pink for breast cancer awareness. What’s more, all teams were skipped by women.

Louise Human, Janice Benecke and Leanne Marsh are pretty in pink at the fundraiser.

“It was such a fun day – people went out of their way to dress up. They raised R1 100 for PinkDrive, which is quite a lot for a club of that size. The whole event was centered around PinkDrive,” said Janice Benecke, KwaZulu-Natal Administrator for PinkDrive.

Brenton Van Zyl, Dave Human and Harry George don pink to show their support.

Tea and curry-mince rolls were served for the Heritage Day event, and there were lucky draw prizes up for grabs.
