Homeowner left seriously injured in Morningside house robbery

Emer-G-Med Paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident at a residential property in the Morningside area of Durban where a Morningside homeowner was in critical condition after being shot in a home invasion involving several suspects.

FOLLOWING a home invasion involving several suspects, a man believed to be one of the suspects has been killed, and a Morningside homeowner is in critical condition after being shot by intruders.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle Van Reenan, paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident at a residential property in Waller Crescent in the Morningside area of Durban just after 20:00 this evening.

“Reports from the scene are that a female homeowner suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was found in a critical condition,” said Van Reenan.

The paramedic says Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise her before she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.

A man was also found dead at the scene. “A male, approximately thirty years of age, was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of the paramedics,” said the spokesperson.

Van Reenan says that reports from the scene allege that a number of armed suspects forced entry into the home, held up the family, and a shooting ensued with the suspect suffering fatal gunshot wounds.

“The South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly,” he concluded.
