Unique chance to learn about innovations that will aid the homelessness crisis

This Thursday, November 17, there will be a talk about homelessness at the Denis Hurley Centre.

HASSAN Khan has been running shelters for homeless people in Cape Town for 25 years.

His organisation, The Haven, now has 15 different shelters across the city and beyond, offering a structured transition for homeless people from the streets into a stable living situation. The scale of the project is possible because of funding from the Provincial Department of Social Development.

Having recently attended the National Homeless Conversation in JHB, Hassan will be passing through Durban this Thursday, November 17 at 11:00, and will be giving a talk about his experiences at the Denis Hurley Centre in Durban Central.

The 2022 National Conference on Ending Homelessness brought together service providers, system leaders, advocates, people with the lived experience of homelessness and others, to learn from each other, discuss best practices and share new innovations in the field.

“All are welcome – homeless people, NGOs, faith-based organisations, government officials, and members of the public who want to know more,” said the Denis Hurley Centre director, Raymond Perrier.
