Multiple schoolchildren injured in early morning crash

Two minibus taxis crashed into one another in Morningside this morning, leaving schoolchildren involved in the accident with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

TWO minibus taxis collided this morning at the corner of Windermere Road and Churchill Street in Morningside, leaving multiple schoolchildren with injuries.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen, the crash occurred just after 07:00 this morning. “Emer-G-Med Paramedics responded to the intersection of Windermere Road and Churchill Street in the Morningside area. On arrival on scene, two minibus taxis were found to have collided, with one of them overturned.”

Van Reenen says that multiple schoolchildren were left with injuries ranging from minor to moderate. “They were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to various nearby hospitals for further care,” said the spokesperson.

Van Reenen says that the events leading up to the crash are unknown at this time, but police were present at the scene.
