Security guard shot in alleged robbery in Musgrave

A security guard was shot in an altercation with alleged robbery suspects in Musgrave this morning and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics.

PARAMEDICS responded to the scene of a shooting this morning after a security guard was shot in his abdomen in an alleged altercation with robbery suspects.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, around 09:00 this morning, ALS Paramedics received numerous calls of a shooting incident that had occurred on John Zikhali Road just after Essenwood Road in the Musgrave area of Durban. “Paramedics arrived to find SAPS in attendance and were shown to a security officer who had been shot in his abdomen as a result of an alleged robbery that had occurred,” said Jamieson.

ALS Paramedics worked to stabilise the man at the scene before he was rushed to the nearby Ahmed Al Khadi Private Hospital for the further care that he required.

“At this stage, the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however, SAPS will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
