Watch PAW Patrol™ Live! in Race to the Rescue

On Friday, March 29, from 10:00 to 11:30, PAW Patrol™ Live! will be performing live at the Durban ICC, 45 Bram Fischer Road, in Durban.

It is the day of the Great Adventure Race between Adventure Bay’s Mayor Goodway and Foggy Bottom’s Mayor Humdinger, but Mayor Goodway is nowhere to be found. PAW Patrol comes to the rescue! Ryder summons Marshall, Chase, Skye, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma and Everest to rescue Mayor Goodway and to run the race in her place.

Featuring a cast of everybody’s favourite PAW Patrol characters and presented by Vstar Entertainment Group, Life Like Touring and Nickelodeon Junior, Race to the Rescue shows that ‘no job is too big, no pup is too small’ and shares lessons for all ages about citizenship, social skills and problem-solving as the characters each use their unique skills and teamwork. The show includes two acts and an intermission, and incorporates an innovative costume approach that brings the pups to life on stage with their vehicles and packs during the all-important rescue mission.

The performance features up-tempo music and a cleverly written script – a good introduction to live theatre for young children. Classic theatrical scenery, along with a high-tech video wall, visually transports families to popular locations from the TV series, like Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi’s Farm and Jake’s Mountain. During the show, guests have the opportunity to participate in the adventure and become a part of the PAW Patrol Cheer Team.

Tickets will be available shortly. Please check here for updates: https://allevents.in/durban/paw-patrol-live-race-to-the-rescue-durban/200026235055036

Good Friday Walk of Witness

As we head towards the final days of Lent, Christians are busy preparing for Holy Week and for the Easter Weekend.

A must-do part of that weekend for Durban Christians is the ecumenical Walk of Witness on Good Friday (March 29).

This iconic prayer service was started by Archbishop Hurley in 1985 so, marking the 20th anniversary of his death, we look forward to seeing crowds of Christians of all denominations gathering together to pray and give witness.

With the upcoming elections on our minds, the theme is ‘Challenging Indifference’. There will be special participation by officials from the Independent Electoral Commission and by students from DUT. The preacher is Rev Bulelwa Sihlali Woolley from St Martin’s Anglican Church in Durban North.

Gather in front of City Hall from 05.30; the service will start at 06:00, followed by a silent walk of witness and then a service back at City Hall and the flowering of the cross, finishing around 07.30.

For more information or to offer yourself as a volunteer, contact Rev Chetty at centremanager@diakonia.org.za.

Invitation to join a Mass Iftaar at Kingsmead Cricket Stadium

Durban’s Muslim community has responded to the cry for much-needed global peace by inviting communities of all religious denominations to share in the gracious spirit of Ramadhan with a Mass Iftaar (breaking of the fast). The term ‘breaking bread’ is a universal metaphor for peace. It is hoped that this act of sharing meals will provide an opportunity for people to interact with each other in a way that will add positively to the conversations around peace, tolerance and goodwill. Therefore, a special invitation is extended to all to attend and experience this unique event.

This event is hosted solely for the purpose of promoting interfaith peace, unity, respect, tolerance and social coexistence. A diverse range of community leaders will address the gathering. The event will conclude with a universal prayer for peace.

It’s that time of the year again – Splashy Fen Music Festival 2024

Splashy Fen is South Africa’s longest-running and oldest music festival. It is so much more than just a music festival; it is a festival that celebrates life, art, music, people, love, laughter, fun and enjoyment, all within a world heritage site (The Drakensberg).

The festival started in 1990 after a night of red wine around a fire when Peter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens decided that the farm, Splashy Fen, was a perfect location for a music gathering. Expecting only a hundred or so fans, the inaugural festival attracted some 400 musicians and festival-goers and, by 1995, had become the biggest music festival in the country.

Over the years, Splashy has welcomed more than 150 000 people through its gates and provided a platform that has seen music careers blossom across our promised land. It is so much more than a festival and is rightly dubbed ‘SA’s Friendliest Music Festival’.

In recent years, the festival has experienced a significant revival and is now attracting fans from across the continent and globally to a festival site that is largely considered the most beautiful in South Africa.
Venue: Bushman’s Nek Road, Underberg, 3257
