Meditation centre open to the public

Kadampa Meditation Centre in Westville will be hosting an open day on March 21.

THE Kadampa Meditation Centre in Westville is opening its doors to community members who are looking for inner peace.

The centre is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to helping everyone enjoy the benefits of inner peace in daily life by offering various types of meditation. The organisation also offers programmes that help people deal with mental issues, such as anxiety and depression, from within.

With the intent to spread the message and strategies of peaceful living, Kadampa Meditation Centre in Westville is inviting the community to its open day on March 21 from 10:00 to 14:00.

Kelsang Jampel of the meditation centre said the aim of the open day is to let the community explore various ways of dealing with everyday stress and to also explore their facilities.

“You’re invited to a wonderful opportunity to visit Westville’s very own Kadampa Meditation Centre. If you’ve been curious for a while about meditation and keen on its benefits, or you are just interested in exploring the Meditation Room, or just relaxing on the grounds, you’re very welcome to drop by,” said Jampel.

With free admission, there will be opportunities to meet the teachers and the community and seek answers to any questions. The open day will include free 15-minute ‘taster’ meditation sessions throughout the day and a guided tour of the Meditation Room. Children’s activities will also be available during session times to enable parents to attend the meditations/guided tour. There will be a chance to seek answers to questions about meditation and Buddhism and serene grounds, gardens and a Koi pond to explore.
