Entries open for the 98th Comrades Marathon

Entries officially close on December 9 at 16:30 or as soon as the entry cap of 23 000 is reached.

ENTRIES for the running of the 98th Comrades Marathon have officially opened.

The announcement was made by the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) which confirmed the date of the iconic ultra-marathon taking place on Sunday, June 8 (2025).

The marathon, which has a 23 000 entry cap, features runners from around the country and globe with more than 70 countries represented.

Next year’s race will be the 49th Down Run, starting at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and finishing at Durban’s People’s Park.

Participants can register online at the official Comrades Marathon website, www.comrades.com, or via the Comrades App.

“Early registration is encouraged to secure a spot in this prestigious race as entries are limited and expected to fill up quickly,” the association said.

The association added that the entry fee is waived for holders of 25 or more Comrades medals.

The entry fees are R1 200 (SA athletes), R2 000 (rest of Africa) and R4 500 (international).
