Glenmore armed robbers stopped in their tracks
Three suspects remain in custody following swift arrest by police for an armed robbery incident in Glenmore this week. Police believe that the suspects are linked to a string of similar crimes in the area.
ALERT police officers arrested three suspects after a man was robbed in Glenmore on Tuesday morning.
The victim was standing outside his workplace in Fielden Drive when a grey Renault Triber stopped next to him and two males alighted from the vehicle and allegedly robbed him.
“Two unknown males jumped out of the vehicle and approached him with a firearm and pointed it at him, demanding his cellphone. After they took his phone they climbed back into the vehicle and drove off,” explained Captain Carmen Rhynes of SAPS Ethekwini District.

“The Umbilo SAPS Task team were patrolling on Rick Turner Road a few hours later when they noticed the same vehicle with three occupants. They immediately stopped the vehicle and searched the three males and found one toy gun 9mm replica, a police cap and the complainant’s stolen phone. The three suspects aged between 18 and 21 years old were immediately arrested for armed robbery and taken to Umbilo police station. All three suspects will be profiled and possibly linked to other similar cases in Umbilo and surrounding areas,” Rhynes added.

Ethekwini District Commissioner, Major General Makhosazana Kheswa, commended the members for being alert and making an excellent arrest. “We are committed to removing career criminals from our streets who prowl around looking for opportunities to commit crime,” she said.
