Communities urged to support Charity Golf Day in Morningside

Local Rotary club is taking its lend-a-hand efforts to the greens, in an effort to raise funds for the needy, including school children and college students who are struggling with tuition fees. The charity golf day organisers urge the community to sponsor and support this initiative taking place on Friday.

AS part of its ethos, the Rotary Club of Durban — Morningside is tightening its community involvement through its annual golf day charity event. Following last year’s success, the club is optimistic about the 2025 offering.

Charlie Reddy, past president of the Rotary Club of Durban – Morningside, and Golf Day committee chairperson, highlighted that the core drive of the charity golf day was to raise funds for both existing and new community projects and donations.

“We are looking for sponsors and donors. Businesses and corporates can sponsor prizes or cash or holes on the day. Our target is to attract at least 100 golfers.

“We are deeply involved in community projects. Proceeds raised from the golf day would go a long way in ensuring that we lend a hand to needy and less fortunate communities,” added Reddy.

The Rotary Club of Durban – Morningside offers bursaries, school tuitions and gardening projects, and provides saplings. Additionally, a portion of funds will go towards the eradication of polio initiatives.

“Our target this year is to reach the R40 000 mark, improving from last year’s golf day which raised a little bit below this target. This is an open invitation to professional golfers and non-players.”

Golfers can register for R3000 per 4-ball. This will include a goodie bag and dinner. The day will include a raffle and lucky draw, and a presentation to winners at a formal dinner.

The Charity Golf Day will be held at the Royal Durban Golf Club on Friday, February 7, from 10:00.
