Fund-raising Fun Run
Hosanna Women will host a 5km Family Fun Run on Women’s Day, August 9, at the Westville Country Club.
Hosanna Women has invested in many successful businesses that contribute to female black ownership, with its mission being to equip and empower women to own and operate pre-schools that meet national education standards.

Mango Groove live in concert
The legendary South African musical band Mango Groove will perform live at a family friendly concert filled with food, music and fun at the Fig Tree Farm Hillcrest, Inanda Road, Hillcrest.
The show will start at 12:00. No food and drinks, umbrellas and firearms may be brought into the venue. Tickets are available at Webtickets.
Women’s Day programme at BAT Centre
This Women’s Day, the BAT Centre will host a series of transformative events under the banner of honouring, remembering and reclaiming the power of South African women. Among these is the poignant and visually compelling solo exhibition Ukukhanya Kwamakhosikazi (The Light of Women) by poet and artist Ncumisa Mcitwa, which anchors the day’s commemorations.
The programme forms part of a national reflection on the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence and offers a space for both grief and growth.
The day’s events will include:
A Women’s March through the inner city of Durban, honouring the lives of women and girls lost to GBV and calling for justice and accountability.
A Panel Discussion with leading voices in activism, the arts, and mental health — unpacking the role of community in healing trauma and the urgency of systemic change.
The Ukukhanya Kwamakhosikazi exhibition opening features live poetry, performance art and a curated visual journey through women’s stories of pain, resistance and hope. The programme will be hosted at the BAT Centre on Saturday, August 9 from 10:00.
Red Bull Shay’ iMoto at Suncoast Casino
The Red Bull Shay’ iMoto’s KZN debut at Suncoast Casino will be on Sunday, August 10, when the smell of burning rubber will overpower the salt-tinged air of Durban’s Golden Mile.
Sixteen drivers will go head-to-head in the spinning competition.
The list of top 16 drivers includes Boksie, Jabu, Magesh Junior, Makgasa Fire, Robin Fortuin, Sadz – Flyboxin, Skopas / Bad Company, Team 2xspicy JZ, Team Kayla, Team Nevs, Team Osizweni, Team VQ25, Vaaitjie, Ziko and Lockdiff.

Musical at Hilton
The original pocket musical Actress, conceived and written by Talia Kodesh and Bruce Dennill and starring Kodesh with direction by Daniel Geddes, will be on stage at the Margot Chamberlain Music Centre – Recital Hall, Hilton College as part of the Hilton Arts Festival from August 8-10.
Actress is a musical dramedy; a funny, moving story of a woman trying to define (and succeed in) her different roles – actress, wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and more – while juggling the complexities of all of those responsibilities. It’s a tale that anyone who has ever had to adjust to new expectations in all walks of life – their own or someone else’s – will relate to. Plus showtunes! Pack your dancing shoes, your Theraband, your passport and your tissues. The show also features eight original songs by Dennill.
Actress stars Kodesh and features Nathan Ro as ‘Random Props Guy’. The creative dream team has multiple Naledi, Fleur Du Cap and Vita Awards and nominations among them. Actress has received fantastic reviews from critics and audiences. Tickets available via Webtickets.
