Sandile Thusi Road drive-by shooting claims one life, driver critical
A passenger has been killed and the driver left fighting for his life in this morning's drive-by shooting on Sandile Thusi (Argyle) Road.
INVESTIGATIONS are underway following the fatal drive-by shooting of a man on Sandile Thusi Road (Argyle Road) this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was a passenger in a small vehicle that came under fire from unknown gunmen who were allegedly driving an Audi. The driver of the vehicle was shot several times, but survived the onslaught.
ALS Paramedic’s Garrith Jamieson said the incident happened around 09:30. He said, “Paramedics arrived to find chaos and carnage. The vehicle had been shot at numerous times, leaving both the passenger and driver of the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

“Paramedics assessed both males, believed to be in their 30s and 40s, however the passenger had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and there was nothing that paramedics could do for him. He was declared deceased at the scene.”
He added that the driver was in a critical condition and was stabilised on scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital. “Events leading up to the shooting are unknown and SAPS are in attendance,” said Jamieson.
Umgeni and Sandile Thusi roads are to remain closed to traffic until the scene has been cleared.
