Old Skool picnic brings nostalgia
Social-Link Old Skool Picnic at Munies Hockey Club on December 26 is set to rewind back to the ’90s. It unleashes a forever-loved line-up of music kings and queens of days gone by.
“This festive-season lifestyle event celebrates the golden era of South African Old-School, Kwaito, House, and R&B music, bringing together families, music lovers, and holidaymakers for a full day of nostalgia and entertainment,” shared organiser Zama Mkhize.

The 2025 edition features a line-up of iconic artists, including Kabelo, Mdu Masilela (“Mazola”), Professor, DJ Bongs, Dj Cndo, Dj Chynaman, DJ Happy Gal, DJ Nzwiri, DJ Siyanda, Malini, with Tha Simelane and Swazi M as MCs. Guests will also enjoy a comedy feature by Mondli Mzizi and special tribute performances honoring Brenda Fassie and Mandoza.
“Families and visitors can look forward to VIP hospitality areas, curated picnic zones, local cuisine stalls, Shisa Nyama, nostalgia activities, and a vibrant Old-School ambience.” Tickets are available at Computicket.
Bump and grind on the bill
Northlands Bowling Club, in association with the Rhumbelow Theatre, brings Bump & Grind musical comedy with Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert, in a marathon show this festive season which promises endless laughter.

“Expect new characters, old favourites, and a soundtrack packed with thumping hits as McIlroy and Bobbert once again deliver their trademark blend of side-splitting humour, larger-than-life personalities, and musical mayhem,” shared the organisers.
All the action takes place at Northlands Bowling Club from December 18 to January 4, except for December 22, Christmas Day, December 29, and January 1.

Ready for Juggie Christmas?
The holiday season is about to get a whole lot funnier and a whole lot warmer with Uncle Juggie Christmas.
From December 19 to 21 at iZulu Theatre, at 19:30, the favourite mischievous uncle will take over the stage, cracking up revellers to no end with his Wish You a Juggie Christmas special.

Get frozen with the master magician
Brain Freeze, starring magician Vicus Cruywagen, hits Rhumbelow on Cunningham Road from December 20 to 21.
After a sold-out performance in July, magician Cruywagen is back in Durban with his smash-hit show Brain Freeze, and this time he says it cannot be missed.

He promises to deliver laughter, gasps, and amazement, while taking curious fans on a fast-paced magical adventure packed with mind-blowing illusions, hilarious comedy, and plenty of audience participation.
