Hilton Hotel Durban closure explained
The iconic 5-star hotel, Hilton Durban, is at the centre of rife speculation regarding its “abrupt” closure recently.
FOLLOWING social media outcry regarding the closure of the Hilton Hotel Durban last week, Berea Mail visited the hotel.
At the entrance, a notice that was put up on Wednesday reads, “Dear Valued guests. Thank you for contacting us. We would like to inform you that our hotel is temporarily closed due to ongoing renovation works. We are working hard to enhance our facilities and improve your experience with us. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your understanding. If you need assistance or would like information about future availability, please feel free to reach out.” It was signed by Hotel Management.

According to sources, the hotel renovations are expected to be completed by the end of this month, and will reopen in March.
On social media, guests reported that they had received communication indicating that their future bookings would not be honoured by the hotel.
The five-star hotel reopened under the Hilton brand in 2024 after being shut for more than three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is reported that the UAE’s Bin Otaiba Hotel Group acquired Hilton Durban in 2018, under the Royal Majestic Hotels group.
