Suspected crystal meth dealer arrested in Point

Police have nabbed another drug ring player in Point when a suspect was arrested with crystal meth to the value of 75 000.

ON Tuesday (March 17), police arrested a 49-year-old suspect in the Point area for allegedly dealing in drugs. The area has been making headlines for the scourge of drugs and increasing distribution.

KZN SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Thenjiswa Ngcobo said, “Members from the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit have been conducting continuous surveillance on an individual who was suspected to be dealing in drugs around the Durban Central Business District. Once sufficient intelligence was gathered on the targeted person, a take-down operation was planned.

“On Tuesday morning, police officers pounced on the suspect in the Point area, and when he was searched, he was found in possession of 500g of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R75 000. The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with dealing in drugs, and reportedly appeared at the Durban Magistrate’s Court [on March 18].”
