The Easter weekend is upon us, and Durbanites and visitors of all ages can take advantage of the amazing indoor and outdoor activities on offer.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr
This production will be staged by The Young Performers’ Project at Milkwood Theatre, Danville, from April 2-12.
Fishy Fable: Inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s beloved fairytale, it is based on the classic animated Disney movie, The Little Mermaid Jr stage musical. The cast includes Ariel played by Chloe Marot from St. Mary’s DSG (last seen in Shrek and Annie); Sebastian is Khethukuthula Ngcobo (International School of Performing Arts; and Flounder is played by Azania Mavimbela (Crawford North Coast).
Tickets are available via Webtickets. Scholars and pensioners get 10% off any seats throughout.
Kiddies fun at The Pav
Patrons at the Pavilion Shopping Centre can enjoy the free “Easter Garden” themed children’s games in the Fountain Court which runs until April 6.

After expending some energy in the games area, little ones can sit down and enjoy some table crafts, Easter egg decorating, and colouring in – all in a safe, contained space and designed in pretty candy-floss pastel colours which will offer plenty of photo-worthy moments in the beautiful Easter Games Garden. Daily times for activities are 11:00 – 18:00, entry is free, and all are welcome.
The hunt is on
Easter Egg Hunt & Family Braai is set to bring endless family fun on April 4, at Rhumbelow Theatre & Shellhole in Umbilo, starting from 11:00 until 17:00. On offer will be jumping castles, a braai, bring and share, and more.

Festival of Chariots Durban
The annual Festival of Chariots Durban descends to the beachfront this Easter weekend. All the colourful action will take place at the Bay of Plenty lawns, and The Amphitheatre.

The ever colourful Chariots parade is on Friday April 3 at 11:00, and Monday April 6 at 17:00. The weill be an aerial fireworks display on Saturday April 4 at 21:30.
Annual Easter Fiesta
Ground Zero brings what it dubs the Easter celebration of the year, the Annual Easter Fiesta 2026. Featuring Rebel Ravi P in the mix, it will pay tribute to legends DJ Deon Da Rascal and Kevin Rebellious. The celebration promises a carnival experience, high-energy DJs, drinks specials, and non-stop party vibes. The event takes place on April 4 at 120 Stella Road in Hillary. One ticket for full weekend access.

Hop into Easter fun at Mitchell Park
On Saturday, April 4, Mitchell Park Paws will host a Holiday Hop event at Mitchell Park from 10:00. The fundraising event will include a day of egg hunts, face painting, and holiday fun – all in aid of care for the feral cats fed by Mitchell Park Paws.

There will also be crafting, colouring, and games with prizes from Meankat Cafe & Cat Sanctuary and Stone Artisanal Pizza to be won. All are welcome to the event, but tickets for the Egg Hunt must be booked and paid for before Saturday via Webtickets. The Egg hunt is only for children 10 years old and younger. All other activities are open to all ages and can be paid for at the event. All profits will go to the care of the feral cats in Mitchell Park and its Morningside surroundings.
Family fun day and bowls
The community is invited to join the action as the Stella Park Bowling Club in Umbilo hosts Easter Monday Fun Day Bowls on Monday, April 6, from 09:30. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the fun, with jumping castles available for the kids. Entry to the fundraising event is R25 per person.

One Man Concert x Kelvin Momo
One Man Concert Productions announces a night of music and culture as award-winning music producer and DJ Kelvin Momo takes centre stage for a spectacular live concert experience on Sunday, April 5, at 16:00 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park.
The Durban showcase promises a magical, immersive concert experience, with a line-up curated by Kelvin Momo, featuring artists he’s collaborated with along his musical journey. No camp chairs and cooler boxes allowed. Tickets available via Webtickets from R295.
BollyRave Festival brings ‘chaos’
The BollyRave Experience arrives at the Mount Edgecombe Easter Festival on April 4, turning it into something even bigger this year. The stage will showcase festival DJs, live performances, Dhol Punked, and dancers. Entrance is free.
