ONE person was killed and another seriously injured in a shooting incident this afternoon (April  26) on Crescent Street near East St Park in the Overport area.

According to ALS Paramedics the fatal shooting happened just before 13:30. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson they arrived on scene to find SAPS, Metro Police and security personnel already in attendance.

“Paramedics were shown to a male believed to be in his 30s who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” said Jamieson. “Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene.”

Initial reports from the scene indicated that there were two people injured. Multiple bullet shells were found on the roadway and a passing motorist’s vehicle was also damaged in the shoot-out.

“It is alleged that a second person who had also sustained gunshot wounds was transported privately to hospital,” said Jamieson.

He added, “At this stage the events leading up to the shooting are unknown however SAPS will be investigating further.”
