From the year 1956 to a future where aliens have landed. What should have been a simple blind date turns out to be an adventure of a lifetime.
Join Westville Theatre Club on this epic time-bending journey where true love, life and death, and chance encounters hang in the balance. It is filled with hilarious characters and jam-packed with popular hits by ABBA, Queen, Phil Collins, and so much more, performed with a live band. This original script, written and directed by Maya Olsen, is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Musical direction is by Shawn O’Neill, with choreography by Dorothy O’Neill.

Show dates: May 21-24 and 28-31 at 18:30 for 19:00, and Sunday at 14:00.
Tickets are R120 for general admission and R100 for students, pensioners, and members.

May Concert for KZN Youth Orchestra

The busy KZN Youth Orchestra will perform a glorious autumn concert this month, together with the KZN Philharmonic, on Sunday, May 17, at 15:00 at the Durban Jewish Club.

The concert will feature a carefully curated and diverse repertoire that spans classical, romantic, and modern music as well as some contemporary pieces.

Mama Mia! hits Rhumbelow

In their fundraising efforts, the Denis Hurley Centre brings Mama Mia! at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo on May 17.
“If you want to, you can also dress up: be inspired by an ABBA song, or dust down your ’70s disco outfit! There will be prizes for the best-dressed man, woman, and group,” said the organisers.

A donation of R220 per person is requested, or R1500 for a full table for eight people. (Since this is a fundraiser there are no other discounts or complimentary seats. Patrons can bring their own picnic or buy food at the venue. There will also be a raffle for prizes.

Ancient Greek magic at DUT

The DUT Drama Department is presenting two productions inspired by Ancient Greek plays, both at the Courtyard Theatre, DUT Ritson Campus, namely King Oedipus on Friday, May 15 at 18:00, and Lysistrata in the Hood from May 21 to 22 at 18:00.

Stella Athletic Club race

Join the race on May 17 at Stella Athletics Club. The race will start at Stella Sports Club, at 06:00 for the 25km, 06:30 for the 10km run/walk, and at 07:00 for the 5km run.

Entry Fees: 25km Run: R235 (Late entries R260), 10km Run/Walk: R170 (Late entries R190), and 5km Fun Run: R100. Free entry for over-75s. Temporary licences are available at a cost.

My Tribe Festival
My Tribe Festival descends on Durban shores on May 16, bringing music, art, and community, featuring award-winning musos Busiswa, Vusi Nova, Umafikizolo, Nathi Nkayi, and Mnqobi Yazo.
