Signage inspectors identify illegal signs

The eThekwini Municipality Signage inspectors need to do their job, says resident.

EDITOR – A notice in the newspaper where residents were told to take photos of illegal signs to municipal inspectors refers.

This comment and instruction by Tozi Mthethwa flies in the face of the Signage Policy of the (so-called) caring city.

She probably (and hopefully) knows as well as many citizens that the city has in place Signage Area Inspectors who, in all likelihood, are on the payroll.

It is their duty to go around identifying illegal signs and sending that information to Enforcement at the Signage Department for prosecution.

When, and if, Signage does receive information from citizens who clearly care for and love Durban, it is duty-bound to respond courteously and as expected.

It is duty-bound to act with haste, within 24 hours, so that when the citizen passes the crime-seen spot next, the illegal sign is gone.
