Thanks for help after nasty fall

A resident thanks the public who helped her when she fell outside Glenwood Village.

EDITOR – I had a very nasty fall on the steps that leads from Che Guevara (Moore) Road into the Glenwood Village Shopping Mall last Friday and would appreciate if you would post this to convey my sincere thanks to all the people who came to my assistance.

While walking down the steps I slipped and fell and my shoulder got dislocated (which I did not know at the time). The staff from the Three Monkeys coffee shop and a number of bystanders came to my immediate assistance. There were ER staff around as well who also immediately assisted once they were told about my situation. I was in extreme pain and everybody around me went out of their way to try and make me comfortable. I was taken to Entabeni, where the staff in the trauma unit were also very sympathetic and helpful.

This was a very painful experience and if it were not for all the assistance I got from strangers, I don’t know how I would have got through it.

To all of you, my sincerest thanks. It is incidents like these that reinforce my believe in society and proof that we still have a lot of good caring human beings around us.

Just a warning – the steps leading down into the mall (in the area where the coffee shop is) are very slippery – even when it is dry. I have slipped on these previously in dry conditions. When this happened I fortunately held on to the centre railing – if I did not, my injuries could have been much worse.
