EDITOR – I am most impressed with the service and response time delivered by the Parks Department.
Last Friday I was lucky enough to escape a falling tree here in Esther Roberts (Frere) Road. The tree missed me and my friend by inches! We were busy parking the car in my driveway when the tree came down. This also caused the road to be blocked completely and the traffic started building up.
Within ten minutes the Parks Department was there and put down orange cones to divert the traffic to a nearby side road and then proceeded cutting the tree’s main trunk and loading it onto a truck. The remaining branches were cut into smaller pieces and put on the pavement in three different heaps. Red tape was put around these.
I thought to myself that this is probably going to lie there for the next year. Much to my surprise Tony Govender and his team were here at the crack of dawn on Monday to clear up the remaining branches. Some idiot had added some of his garden waste next to the one heap during the weekend and even this was taken away by the team.
I just officially want to thank the Parks department for the prompt response and good service.
