EDITOR – Apropos to the article in the Berea Mail dated 23 January, 2015 regarding the traffic calming on our roads:
Hutchinson Road in Umbilo had traffic calming bumps. Then suddenly the road had to be resurfaced, and that was the last time the calming bumps were seen.
After the road was done I asked for the humps to be replaced, but to no avail.
There was an incident in which a driver lost control of his vehicle due to speeding down the hill, totally destroying the fence around our flats and his car.
Another incident was a hit-and-run. The driver was not concerned that he/she had struck a child and left him at the side of the road. The traffic calming bumps were still not replaced.
It is most frustrating that the people who get paid to serve the public have no interest in doing so.
My question to them is, how would they feel if it was their child left at the kerb after being struck and run down by a speeding motorist?
