Help curb the madness

A resident feels something needs to be done to curb speeding in John Zikhali and Vause Roads.

EDITOR – I would like to bring to the attention to those that are in charge of road safety and the safety of the citizens of Durban.

Vehicles that travel on John Zikhali (Sydenham) and Vause Roads daily treat the road as a racing track. Nearly every second vehicle comes screeching and screaming around the top of John Zikhali into Vause Road at high speeds, disregarding traffic rules and speed limits. There have been quite a few accidents on these roads already, luckily with no fatalities; however this may not be the situation in the future as the drivers that are used to this road are driving faster and faster.

We, the residents of Vause Road are subjected to the noise made by these inconsiderate drivers, screeching tyres and revving engines day and night seven days a week.

I suggest the city takes drastic steps to alleviate this situation. Maybe the introduction of speed bumps or speed cameras installed on John Zikale Road would definitely help curb this madness and mayhem of these petrol heads and Top Gear enthusiasts.
