Recycling woes

A resident feels there should be a solution to the issue of people not recycling, or using the wrong garbage bags.

EDITOR – I have recently read a few letters in Berea Mail regarding recycling.

Firstly, people seem to throw everything into black bags, or any bags. Paper in landfills may be a waste, but plastic, cans and even glass bottles should not be there.

I have to go through my bin, as others put the wrong items in it. I have an orange bag in one room, a packet for bottles, and one for tins.

Yet it seems to be a lazy person who doesn’t care, who puts the wrong rubbish in my black bin.

Aren’t there any sustainable living pamphlets/posters I can erect in my house, for anyone to read?

Also, on Fridays, they collect our orange bags. The scroungers come, tear open bags, or open them carefully, and tip out the contents and use the packets for whatever they want, leaving a mess on the pavement. Or they put paper and plastic into the nearest black bag.

What’s the solution?
