Replace state education with independent education system

The IEB results are a clear indication that if we can have independent education system across the board then this country will flourish

EDITOR – Forum 4 Service Delivery (F4SD) is  encouraged by the Independent Examination Board (IEB) results released by Umalusi. The 96.7 IEB results symbolize a step in a right direction for our education system, especially when one takes into account pass marks that our students achieved. F4SD believes the Department of Education can draw lessons from the IEB on how to achieve the 97% pass rate, but F4SD is clear on the position of advocating for the independent way of doing things.

The IEB results are a clear indication that if we can have independent education system across the board then this country will flourish. It is the belief of the F4SD that our education system is failing to produce quality students who can be absorbed by the job market, hence South Africa finds itself sitting with this high rate of
youth unemployment, which includes university graduates.

Forum 4 Service Delivery further calls on the re-opening of Teaching Colleges because it is clear to the Forum that the level of teaching in this country has declined hence even government reduced the passing mark
for our children to a disgraceful 33,33%. We need all the capacity we can have in this sector (from the teaching perspective).

F4SD hereby takes this opportunity to wish all Matric class of 2016, best of luck as they will be receiving their Matric results from next week Wednesday. South Africa has the winning mentality and with that, we hope this year’s matric results will come with the significant improvement in as far as the pass rate is concerned. To those who won’t
make it just stay strong and take the FAIL as First Attempt In Learning.
