Kearsney’s 1st XI played their first match of the current season at home on the Smith Oval and they did not disappoint, beating Clifton by 118 runs.

After winning the toss the home side had no hesitation in deciding to bat first on a flat track with a lightning outfield. Tristan Tedder and Ryan Wallace were in sublime form and put on 240 runs for the third wicket, as Kearsney amassed a formidable total of 303/3 after their allotted 50 overs. Tedder was eventually out for a superb 132 runs off 114 balls, while Wallace was 102 not out when the innings closed.

Despite a brisk start by Clifton, wickets fell regularly and James Tedder made it a family affair by achieving figures of 6/44 to restrict Clifton to 185 all out.

All in all a wonderful display of cricket by the Kearsney side to win their opening season’s fixture by 118 runs.
