Glenwood scores solid victory

Glenwood took on Westville Boys in closely contested water polo tournament recently.

GLENWOOD took on Westville Boys in a water polo tournament recently. The first game of the day was a closely contested affair with Glenwood’s U14B teams losing narrowly 3-4, but from there on in the Glenwood boys played some exceptional water polo.

The U14A team had a solid victory, with S du Randt and G Stopford again dominating the proceedings with Stopford scoring 7 goals. The U15A match started off a tight affair, but eventually the Glenwood boys pulled away with D Cronje and K Aiken having outstanding games. It was good to see M Ehlers back in the pool giving 100 per cent in the centre forward position. Fitness was lacking but he has shown his worth and is working hard to regain his form of term 1.

The 1st team adopted a new attack pattern to counter the Westville defence of a side drop. The Glenwood boys carried out the pattern rather well and as such had much of their own way on attack. M Scott had a solid match scoring 3 goals. Defensively the boys lacked accuracy, allowing Westville too many scoring opportunities. C Gibb had a solid game covering on both attack and defence.

Results:

U14B lost 3-4, U15B won 6-4, U14A won 11-3, U15A won 10-1, 2nd won 6-3 and 1st won 8-6
