Maddy takes on Warrior Race

A Glenwood trainer will be among other celebrities to take part in a 6km obstacle course event.

GLENWOOD'S Madelein Pestana Do Vale will be taking on a 6km obstacle course at this year's Jeep KZN Warrior Challenge.

Madelein will compete in the celebrity event on 24 July at Holla Trails in Ballito and the team challenge on 26 July.

According to Madelein, the event consists of 300m stretches between 15 different obstacles, which include climbing a 6m scaffolding, monkey bars, mud pits and more.

“I have been training hard for the event at an obstacle course on the Bluff and will be doing the event to support a cancer charity. It is tough but exciting. It is a lot of power, technique and core training. A rope with knots looks easy to climb, but it is not!” she said.

She said Jetaime Ribbink, who has won the Warriors Race three times, contacted her via Facebook.

“She was looking for me as I used to train her, and she asked if I would consider taking part. I'm keen for anything and any challenge, and took her up on the offer,” she said.

Madelein said she was in shape, fit and strong enough and was ready to take it on.

“I'm excited to be a part of such an amazing event. I feel privileged to have been asked to take part, and to be among the first ones to try the course out before the main event on 26 July,” she said.
