Karate tourney a success

SKISA Morningside dojo students participated in the WKF Karate KwaZulu-Natal (KKZN) developmental tournament held at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre at the weekend.

Lameez Adams, Mikhaeel Mahamed, Ilyaas Reyazuddin, Ricardo De Castro, Akiel Singh and Jashin Pillay represented SKISA at the said tournament and faced tough competition from other karateka in KZN.

Ricardo De Castro won double gold for Kata and Kumite in the 13-14 boys division while Akiel Singh and Jashin Pillay also placed in the boys' 11 to 12 years division winning bronze. Athletes that placed in the top four of their respective divisions achieved KZN developmental colours for karate and will participate at the National Developmental Karate Tournament on 30 August.
