Dads support local charities
The 10th Dad’s charity cycle raised an incredible R350 000 for The Sunflower Fund.
THIS year's Dad's Charity Cycle saw a group of 30 dads, moms and friends take on the 668km ride from Johannesburg down to Durban to raise funds for charity.
A total of R350 000 was raised for the four main beneficiaries, The Sunflower Fund, Fulton School for the Deaf, the Gauteng Down Syndrome Association (DSA), and CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation).
This year, leukaemia survivor, Ashley Pillay, joined the team and cycled the last two days of the trip. Ashley was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2011 and was fortunate enough to find a matching donor and underwent his transplant in September 2013.
“I would like to thank the sponsors, companies and individuals who all committed to support the ride and dug deep into their pockets for this worthwhile cause,” said Rob Jackson, chairman of the Dad's Charity Challenge.
