Clifton boys excel at waterpolo tourney

Clifton College waterpolo players were chosen for the U19A waterpolo team.

CLIFTON College boys excelled at the South African Schools waterpolo tournament held in Johannesburg during December, which saw 10 Clifton men representing their province in their respective age groups.

The KwaZulu-Natal Under 16A team, captained by Massimo Conversano, won its section, with Dusty Torr and Caleb Simpson playing exceptionally well as part of this team.

The KwaZulu-Natal Under 19A team also won its category, captained by Nicholas Downes, with six Clifton boys in the starting seven, Nicholas Downes, Dayne Jagga, Gareth May, John Williams, Mike Brakspear and Wyatt Edwards.

Gareth May (Goalie of the Tournament), Nicholas Downes (Best Forward of the Tournament) and Dayne Jagga (Player of the Tournament) were selected for the South African Under 19 Team.

Water polo at Clifton continues to excel, with the first team having won the following tournaments in succession: the Top 10 KZN 2013, the St Stithians Stayers’ Tournament 2013, the Grey Bloem Tournament 2014, the St Andrew’s Tournament 2014, the Top 10 KZN 2014, the Nashua Clifton Tournament 2014 and the Water Polo Currie Cup 2014.
