Glenwood waterpolo teams excel against Northwood

Glenwood High's waterpolo teams were too strong for Northwood.

GLENWOOD High School continued their dominance over Northwood in waterpolo with the A teams enjoying good victories in games at the weekend.

In the U14A match the Glenwood boys started to show their true potential. Daniel Messit-Toose, John-Brett Bridger and Cameron Gentle had outstanding matches. Glenwood's ability to defend goal-side made all the difference, with Glenwood winning 13-0.

It was a one-sided affair in the U15A match, with Glenwood winning 20-1. Diago Rodrigues was outstanding, and he was well-supported by Joshua Jacoby and Tiago Cordeiro, but in the end this was a solid team effort.

The second team played what appeared to be a 'barbarians' Northwood team, which included some of their first and U15A players. However, in the end the depth of Glenwood's waterpolo showed with the boys winning comfortably 14-2. Marco Palvie was the leading goal scorer.

In the first team game, Glenwood defended well against the classy Northwood attack, which made the difference between the two teams.

Shane Westman and Keagan Aiken were outstanding. Aiken, in particular, who was tasked to mark the Northwood KZN U19A player, was dominant. On attack Glenwood missed too many opportunities, which included a 20 per cent success rate on extra man, which saved Northwood from a bigger defeat.

Glenwood won the match 11-3.
