Cricket festival a success

Young talent was showcased at the Glenwood U13 Cricket festival.

THIS year’s Glenwood U13 Cricket festival was a huge success with 14 primary schools taking part.

The schools, including Amanzimtoti, Athlone Park, Benjamin Pine, Drakensberg (Newcastle), Glenwood Prep, Huttenpark (Newcastle), Manor Gardens, Northdene Prep, Northlands, Pelham, Penzance, Port Shepstone Club, Scottburgh and Sunfoil (development team) competed over the two days and showcased some exciting young talent.

Dolphins player and U19 World Cup winner Andile Phehlukwayo was the guest for this year’s festival prize giving. Three players to stand out in this year’s festival and who received awards for their overall talent and potential were Best Batsman of the Festival, Chase Britz (Port Shepstone Country Club Junior Cricket Team), Bowler of the Festival, Daniel Thring (Benjamin Pine) and Best All Rounder of the Festival, Jareth Praschma (Amanzimtoti Primary).
