Tee-off for children

The Durban Child and Youth Care Centre will hold its annual fundraising golf day this month.

THE Durban Child and Youth Care Centre’s annual golf day is on Friday 17 April at the Royal Durban Golf Club.

Join in by entering a four ball team or two. The entry fee consists of entry for a four ball team at R2 400 per team, inclusive of green fees, goodie bag, competition fees as well as dinner. The format will be a Four Ball Alliance – two scores to count.

The field is limited to 144 players so book early to confirm your place and tee off times.

Any sponsored prizes would be gratefully appreciated.

The funds raised from this annual event will assist the organisation in meeting the various needs of the 74 orphaned children in its residential programme, the 32 children a year who benefit from the Siyakhula Substance Abuse Treatment programme and the 2 000 children from child -headed households in Umbumbulu and Ndwedwe who benefit from the Isibindi Outreach Project.

These victims of HIV and Aids experience a deep sense of loss and sorrow after the death of their parents, in addition they struggle daily to meet their basic needs for food, shelter and clothing.

“We are seeing the effects of this devastating illness in all three of our programmes at present, and with the community’s support we can make a difference in the lives of many children and their families,” said Thina Hlophe.
