The latest from KZN Badminton

KZN Badminton has had a busy month and looks forward to a number of upcoming events for its players.

The results ofthe SA U15 inter provincial tournament in Cape Town earlier this month saw the A teach finish in sixth place in the A section, with the B team taking third place in the B section and closely frollowed by the C team who finished fifth in the same section.

In the tournament grading results Francoise Swanepoel was placed fifth and Kelsey Wilson sixth.

In the week's grading results Matthew Clifford placed sixth and Tarryn Boddy fifth.

Individual results saw Aaron Smith win the singles plate final while Kelsey Wilson/Matthew Clifford won the mixed plate final and Kelsey Wilson was the semi-finalist in the ladies doubles main draw.

There will be a NBA get together, bring and braai, quiz night and 200 club draw on 29 May. The Challengers Cup takes place from 1 to 3 May in Pretoria.

Bonnie Diamond will play in the SA Woodroffe team; Tonderai Nduduzo will play in the SA U19 team; Teron Gertze will play in the SA U19 team; Laika Maharaj will play in the SA U19 team and Brandon Nel will play in the SA U17 team.

Emelda Botha (captain), Tina de Waal, Carolyn van Rooyen, Dalene Plank, Willie stokes (manager), Steve Davies, Craig Sim, and Rob Luyt will play in the Masters Team which will go to East London from 16 to 23 May.

KZN players Mihaeel Mirza, Brandon Nel and Laika Maharaj will play in the national U19 squad and Teron Gertze and Quinton Luyt are KZN players in the emerging squad.
