Kick for Rugby World Cup dream prize
SA Rugby Travel gives fans a chance to win a trip to the Rugby World Cup.
RUGBY fans have been given a chance to win a trip to the Rugby World Cup 2015 quarter finals through a novel kicking competition that will take place at half time of the Springboks’ match against the World XV on 11 July.
Backed by SA Rugby Travel and Gilbert, rugby fans eager to secure the prize will have to find the pink rugby ball on the SA Rugby Travel website www.sarugbytravel.com and fill in the entry form.
Six finalists will be drawn and flown in for the World XV match at Newlands that starts the Springboks’ winter international series, where the finalists will take part in a novel grubber kicking competition where the kick that lands closest to the target will win the travel package.
The prize includes a return airfare from Johannesburg to London, accommodation and breakfast in a central London hotel for four nights and tickets to two quarter finals at Twickenham.
The competition runs until 10am on Monday 22 June when the six finalists will be drawn and contacted directly.
Former Springbok captain John Smit, who is one of the SA Rugby Travel ambassadors, said that the support of South African fans at the World Cup made a significant impact on the team during his tenure as captain.
“I think having South African supporters follow us around the world makes us miss home a little bit less. Listening to people speaking Afrikaans in the corridors or the foyer or on the tubes makes you realise that they have come all this way to support us. I am a supporter now and I can’t wait to follow our guys, to be able to feel that energy around the team and to understand the intensity of what the Springboks and how they perform means to all of us. We rely upon it, we thrive upon it,” said Smit.
SA Rugby Travel offers a variety of official travel packages for fans eager to watch matches at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, from their opening matches against Japan in Brighton and Samoa in Birmingham right through to the knock-out stages of the tournament.
Some of the packages will be hosted by celebrity former players like Smit, Andre Vos and Corne Krige as well as entertainers Kurt Darren, Katlego Maboe, Elvis Blue, Jay and Bok van Blerk.
