ILembe too strong for Quins
Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club lost a T20 to ILembe on Sunday.
UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club’s first team played a group D T20 match at Gledhow on Sunday, 7 October.
Quins batted first, with Momedthala Motala the most zesty of the Quins openers, scoring 22 runs. Number four batsman Daniel Smuts held out for 17 runs and Faiyas Safri was adjudged leg before wicket for 23 runs. Quins were eight wickets down for 103 runs in 20 overs.
ILembe managed to remain slightly ahead of the required run rate for most of this match, surpassing Quins’ tally in the 18th over losing just four wickets. Right arm fast bowler Kevin Kettle and right arm wrist spinner Dieter Liebenberg were undoubtedly Quins two most effective bowlers, by virtue of economy rate.
Other team results: Quins 2nds beat East Coast 2 by four wickets; Quins 3rds beat Clares by five wickets; Quins U13s beat DCC.
The club requires players from the ages of 10 to 13 years for its 30 over youth league matches on Sunday mornings.
Practice for seniors will be at the Harlequins cricket nets from 4pm on Tuesdays and at 4pm on Fridays for juniors.
