Martial arts students excel

United Martial Arts International students triumphed at the FCMA International Championship.

THE United Martial Arts International (UMAI) KZN team shone brightly at the Full Contact Martial Arts (FCMA) International Championship held at the Tongaat Sports Hall recently.

Three full contact martial arts national colours students scooped a total of 10 medals in various categories such as points, continuous, creative forms and creative weapons.

Zahraa Mehtab won one silver and one bronze medal, JT Esterhuizen won three gold and one silver medal, and Acelia Esterhuizen won three gold and one bronze medal.

The students attribute their success to hard work, endless hours of training and determination.

The championship was exciting and was the first ever international championship held in South Africa with attendees from nine countries.
President of Sports and Recreation Thami Mchunu attended this prestigious event.
