Local waveskiers end season on high note

The heats were hotly contested by all the waveskiers fighting for a place in the final, which was won by Durban’s Ryan Griffith.

THE KZN Closed Waveski competition that took place at Scottbrugh main beach recently, delivered some great surfing and was an indication of the growth in KZN Waveski.

Not only is KZN growing its women’s division but it is also the first province to have an Adaptive Surfing division. This was the first event of its kind in KZN and saw two local entrants, Doug Hendrikz and Eric Perrier, in fierce competition for first place.

The heats were hotly contested by all the waveskiers fighting for a place in the final, which was won by Durban’s Ryan Griffith. Stuart McHattie was second and Dylan Bense and Craig Barlett placed third and fourth respectively.

The women’s final was won by Janelle Radmeyer with Shannon Heaver second and Bianca King and Kim Griffith Jones placing third and fourth respectively.
