KZN Softball achieves gold

The eThekwini Softball Major League has been creating quite the buzz at Queensmead sports complex.

KZN Softball was represented at the annual Gordon Monk Tournament in Kempton Park at the weekend.

After finishing first in the Round Robin, the Men’s A Team beat Ekurhuleni in the final 12 – 2. The Ladies’ A side also did well in coming third, the Men’s B side came third in the B section, and the Ladies’ B side finished fourth.

There were individual successes at the tournament as well, with KZN players receiving tournament awards. Most Valuable Player went to Men’s A team player, Tyron Stoltz, Best Pitcher was Woman’s A team’s Hannah Shirley and Men’s A team’s Grant Olivier, who was also awarded Second Top Batter. best Batter was Men’s B team’s Cameron Whitfield and Third Top Batter was Men’s B team’s Tanner van Niekerk.

The KZN Men’s and Ladies’ A teams to travel to Secunda in March will be selected soon.

Latest Men’s division results: Cardinals beat Cubs 14 – 1, Barracuda beat Royals 3 – 1, Royals beat Cardinals 3 – 0, Barracuda Cubs 9 – 2.

Latest ladies’ division results: Warriors beat Vipers 17 – 10, Squirrels beat Falcons 7 – 0, Warriors beat Squirrels 10 – 3, Panthers beat Falcons 17 – 2.

The eThekwini Softball Major League has been creating quite the buzz at Queensmead sports complex lately with some exciting softball and entertainment for all.

Major League matches are played every Thursday night at Queensmead from 6pm. Bentley & Co are providing catering for spectators and players alike with different menus every week.

This week sees the start of a weekly 50/50 draw.
