A dominant campaign in Centurion saw KwaZulu-Natal’s U17 netball B side clinching gold and the A team securing silver.

THE KZN Action Netball U17 teams delivered an impressive campaign at the recent Interprovincial Tournament in Centurion, with the KZN U17B team claiming a gold medal while the U17A team finished as runners-up.

The teams are coached by Toni Joharie and managed by Megan Sutton. The KZN U17A teams played 11 matches throughout the tournament. They showed consistency and grit, securing victories across most of their pool and playoff games.

In the final, they faced a strong Western Province side. Despite a hard-fought battle, they finished as runners-up, proudly bringing home the silver medal. The KZN U17B team played seven matches leading up to the final.

“Taking two teams to their respective Gold Finals is no small feat. As a coach, this achievement is incredibly rewarding and speaks to the dedication, preparation, and belief instilled in both squads,” said Joharie.

The coach said managing the demands of two competitive teams while maintaining performance levels is challenging, “but moments like these make it all worthwhile”.

She applauded the team’s manager, saying: “Megan has truly been the backbone of this journey. Her unwavering support, commitment, and passion for the game played a vital role in the success of both teams.

“Having recently completed her Coaches Level 1 qualification, her drive and shared vision have been instrumental, and this achievement is just as much hers.”

Joharie added that she is immensely proud of both teams, not only for the results achieved, but for the character, discipline, and passion they displayed throughout the tournament.

“These experiences continue to shape them into not just better players, but stronger individuals.”
