Concert under the stars

Old Mutual Carols By Candlelight is set to light up the Durban Botanical Gardens.

FRIENDS and fmailies are invited to unite under the stars for some inspired festive cheer as the Old Mutual Carols by Candlelight series comes to the Durban Botanical Gardens on Friday, 13 December.

The talented Durban City Orchestra, featuring a full cast of more than 40 members comprising experienced musicians from diverse backgrounds, will perform many of the public’s favourite carols. The City Orchestra will be accompanied by guest solo artists, as well as a unique bagpiper element to the evening. This year, Father Christmas will also be at the Kidzone as a guest of honour to entertain all the kids.

Carols by Candlelight is more than just a concert, it is also an opportunity to give to and spread festivity to children who, due to a variety of social problems, will spend their festive season at various charities in and around the city.

Concert goers are encouraged to donate appropriate children’s gifts for charity. Suitable items include non-perishables, blankets and toys. Collection bins will be placed around the gardens for those attending the concert to deposit items for the selected charity centres.
