Top musicians get romantic for recital

FRIENDS of Music starts the year off with its first recital on Tuesday 14 January at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort ) Road, Durban at 7.45pm.

Concert master of the KZNPO Joanna Frankel on violin, and Christopher Duigan on piano, will deliver a fantastic recital. Joanna garners worldwide acclaim for her artistry and technical prowess. Christopher is one of the leading pianists in South Africa.

Their programme includes Romantic Renaissance, which includes works of Elgar – Sonata for violin and piano, Chanson de Matin and de Nuit, Brahms’ Sonata in D Minor, Mozart in E Minor and DE Falla’s Danse Espagnole.

Prelude performer is Ewan Slabber, his programme includes Beethoven’s Sonata in E, first movement and Mendelsson’s Rondo Capriccioso. Tickets are R60 for members, R70 for visitors and R20 for orchestral members and students.
