Alliance Francaise hosts fashion show
The KZN Youth Designers, a non profit company willl present an autumn fashion show, with a French twist this Saturday night at the Alliance Francaise in Morningside.
THE KwaZulu-Natal Youth Designers, KYD are gearing up for their Autumn fashion show, Nuit d’Or (Golden Night) hosted by the Alliance Française Durban on Saturday evening, 22 February.
Ndoda Ntilini, Chief Marketing Executive of KYD said she is proud to have partnered with the Alliance French Durban and Sound Chi Sound Hire to present Nuitd’or Autumn Fashion Show, showcasing KZN based young designers’ trendy autumn collections.
Carole Durand,Culture and Communications Coordinator at the Alliance Francaise Durban said she was excited to host the fashion show at AFD. “We are always glad to help young people, passionate people and arists who promote culture in Durban. The fashion show is an opportunity to share cultures and network. We are here to promote French culture as well as the culture of the city we are in,” she added.
The show will give young designers, some of whom have never had a show, the opportunity to exhibit their work.
Khanyisile Malimela of Khanyisile Dbn said her designs are classic and contemporary. “I design what I or my friends want to wear that we can’t find in shops, its simply and stylish,” she said in anticipation of the show.
Other local designer brands include Malesna by Thandeka Myeza, Bright Shadow by Sthandiwe Hlongwane, Tymeless Couture by Philile Motsele, Mphosh Designs by Mpho, Freddy Fashion by Siyabonga Mngadi, Uhuru by Lungelo Zondo and Drive Fashion by Senzo Ngcamu.
Ntilini Beat Routes, a jazz band, will perform live for the Golden Night themed fashion show. There will be a blend of French and Zulu culture and original fresh, homegrown fashion.
