New member for CROW team
A new member has been added to the CROW team.
CROW had the pleasure of welcoming Nompilo Ngcobo to its team last month.
Nompilo is passionate about educating young people about the importance of environmental conservation, an ambition that she will no doubt fulfil thanks to her new position as CROW's full-time Environmental Education Officer.
Over the coming months, Nompilo will help roll out CROW's Wildlife Warriors environmental education Programme that aims to educate children and young people about the importance of conserving wildlife and environment while at the same time inspiring them to make a positive difference in their everyday lives.
Prior to joining the CROW team, Nompilo worked as a tour guide at the Lion Park, as well as a junior keeper at Johannesburg Zoo. In her capacity as an EKNZW honorary officer, Nompilo also regularly volunteers her time and services at Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve.
When she's not working or volunteering, Nompilo can be found with her nose in her books as she's also busy completing the final year of her Btech in Nature Conservation through UNISA.
In addition to welcoming Nompilo to the CROW team, CROW is excited to announce its new Wildlife Warrior Activity Booklets have just arrived hot off the press.
“These 10-page educational activity booklets will be given to each and every child that participates in our Wildlife Warriors programme in 2014 and are filled with fun games and puzzles that serve to reinforce some of the key messages that they will learn on our programme,” said Paul Hoyte from CROW.
He said both the activity booklets and Nompilo's position had been made possible thanks to some of the proceeds raised through the Under an African Sky's 2014 African Sentiments Calendar campaign.
“So on behalf of the thousands of children and ultimately, animals that will benefit from our programme, a very big thank you to all our 2014 calendar sponsors and everyone that supported this fantastic campaign by purchasing one of the stunning, limited-edition 2014 wildlife calendars,” said Paul.
Bookings for the Wildlife Warriors Environmental Education programme for the second, third and fourth 2014 school terms are now open and filling up fast, so contact Nompilo on 031 462 1127 or email: educa tion@crowkzn.co.za
